I recently attended an Intro To Python Workshop offered by the Philadelphia Chapter of GirlDevelopIt. Dana Bauer, the teacher, is an independent developer, mapmaker, and data analyst.

The class covered the basics such as lists, if, elif, else, loops, concatenation, strings, the importance of indentation in Python, and the essence of Python syntax. Having recently begun building the scaffolding of an app in Rails, I can see how Python is a great complement language to add to my growing knowledge base. I am working on getting some ideas for a small Python project and I will begin working on that in the near future. Part 2 of the Workshop will be offered this year, it will build on the basics covered in the first workshop.
